闌尾，位於人體右下腹，是大腸的起端，盲腸內的一段閉合的細長管道。一般人認為闌尾是人類在演化過程中失去功能的器官；但有研究指，闌尾中含有高密度的淋巴組織，除了是免疫器官，可幫助免疫細胞運作之外，同時闌尾也能保持腸道菌的活動，使腸道健康。
