癌症大概可以分為四期， 根據腫瘤大小， 入侵範圍， 淋巴結和器官擴散程度而定。 通常一二三期只牽涉原發器官和附近淋巴， 根治機會高。 而第四期則代表癌細胞已擴散到其他器官， 根治機會低， 治療目的在延長壽命， 減輕病徵。
